UK and European businesses that outsource software have a second question beyond cost: what happens to the personal data. ByteArray Technology Solutions builds custom software, CRM and integrations from Greater Noida West, India, and plans data protection into the design before any code is written.
Data protection in the design
Software holding personal data in the UK falls under UK GDPR, and in the EU under the GDPR. Sending that data to India for development or support counts as an international transfer, which needs a lawful mechanism such as standard contractual clauses or, for the UK, an international data transfer agreement. We work with you and your adviser to set that up, and wherever possible we work with test data or anonymised records so live personal data never leaves your systems.
What we build
- CRM and case management systems for professional firms.
- Booking and patient communication tools for healthcare providers.
- Integrations between accounting, payments and e commerce platforms.
- Dashboards and portals for staff and customers.
Security practices
We apply role based access, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logs for changes to personal data, and a process for deleting records on request. Software for regulated firms may face extra standards, such as those set by the Financial Conduct Authority. Your compliance team defines these, and we build to the list. We do not claim certifications we do not hold.
How a project runs
We start with a scope written from your documents and a data map showing which personal data the system stores and why. Work follows in stages with a weekly demo, and calls are in your working hours. India is 4.5 or 5.5 hours ahead of the UK, depending on the season.
Tools and data processors
Every tool in a project can be a data processor: hosting, email services, analytics and error monitoring. We keep a list of each tool used on your project, where it stores data and what data it receives, so you can complete your records of processing. If a tool sends data outside the UK or EU, we flag it and suggest alternatives.
Ownership
The code is held in your repository, and the agreement assigns ownership to you. See the IT solutions page for related services.
